Ankur Tewari

In a piece for The Hindu last week, I expressed adoration for the song “Jhoom”, off Ankur Tewari’s new album, “Side A”.

The album closer, “Jhoom” is a classic duet / crooner, masked under the beautiful production of Sandunes, aka Sanaya Ardeshir who beehype listeners may have heard of here and here. The song features Zoe Viccaji of Coke Studio Pakistan fame, whom we also interviewed, on duet duties with Tewari himself.

The real winner, however, is Ardeshir’s beautiful production, which takes the song in an unconventional direction for a duet, yet gives the vocals of Tewari and Viccaji centerstage, without ever deducting from them.
