Matorral

Veterans on the Chilean music scene, Matorral have been around for over a decade. Led by the two core members – lead singer and guitarist, Felipe Cadenasso, and bass player and vocalist, Gonzalo Planet – the band have recently released their fifth album, “Gabriel.”

It finds Matorral at their creative best, experimenting with harmonic, rhythmic and melodic structures of the songs to bring their music to another level.

“Boleta de cambio” is an amazing first single off the album. Within a mere three and a half minutes it conveys a breadth of sounds and emotions. With Cadenasso’s melancholic voice crooning over a weird mix of trip-hop like percussion, lo-fi spacey keyboards and rumpled brass section, it somehow manages to sound perfectly coherent and deeply moving at the same time.
