Fusing old and new, East and West, the band Chock Ma (戳麻) is a testament to creative music in Hong Kong. Their sound is a melting pot of Chinese instrumentation, post rock, heavy metal, folk music, and 80’s canto-pop. I bet you would be hard pressed to find another band that sounds like them. Their first single “Bird Speech” (“鳥語”) from their debut album Dharma Bums is a good example of their unique sound. A band to watch.
