Mr. Bleat

Soon after the release of their first full-length album, “Señor Bleat”, in 2011, the trio Mr. Bleat were hailed as one if not the most interesting project in the Colombian electronic scene.

It took them four long years to record a proper follow-up to their debut. But even though “Los lobos”, released in August and available in its entirety on Bandcamp, lasts only 35 minutes – it was absolutely worth the wait.

The record shows the Medellín-based group self-confident and fully formed with a sound that draws inspirations from enough styles and eras to make it impossible to point any particular references. It could be The Beatles, but it could be Radiohead as well.

“Los lobos” opens with “Magia Negra” (“Black Magic”), a superb and already famous track released as a single at the end of 2014 to a great acclaim. With its mellow lo-fi atmosphere and stomping beat decorated with cybernetic details, it remains impressive after all this time. Timeless indeed.
