Let’s get it straight from the start: the way DadaWaves, normally singing in English, combines female and male voices in French is as irresistible as a picture of a palm beach on an ice cold autumn evening.

It’s impossible not to adore the warm harmony that may remind you of Air, Serge Gainsbourg and Jane Birkin, or Belgians like Vive La Fête and Telex. The video directed by Alain Deltenre on the other hand looks rather cold and industrial.

DadaWaves have been working on their self-titled album for five years. “Dans Votre Absurdité” is quite different from the other songs on it. What unites almost all of their tunes, is a very catchy chorus.

It’s not a karaoke regular, but if ever I end up there, I’ll ask for this one by DadaWaves and imitate the high female voice. Get your earplugs ready!
