Glasxs

Glasxs are one of the most interesting new bands from Turkey. They tend to create music within the trip-hop genre, which is uncommon to Turkish listeners. However, they are using the social media power so well, they are getting more attention day by day.

Melis, the singer of the band, has a remarkable voice, and textures of their songs are pretty well-constructed. Initially, Glasxs started as Melis’ solo project, but she was joined by İnanç (a.k.a. Grey Owl) as soon as live shows heaved into sight. Apart from Glasxs’ original music, they’ve covered songs by Portishead, Thom Yorke, and even Frank Sinatra.

Singing both in English and Turkish, they’re a great example that choosing your own language can add a whole new dimension to the music. Like in their new video, “Hayaletler”, a minimal masterpiece and one of the most inspiring things we’ve heard recently at beehype. Right now though, they’re working on a new LP with 11 songs in English.
