Khrystyna Soloviy

Khrystyna Soloviy (Христина Соловій) is a young singer living in Lviv. She was a member of Ukrainian version of “Voice” TV-show, and the most famous Ukrainian rock-star Svyatoslav Vakarchuk from Okean Elzy became her producer.

On her debut album, “Жива вода” (“Living Water”), she rearranged traditional melodies from the Lemkovina region – known from its distinct and rich folk culture – into stylish, contemporary songs.

While leaning towards conventional Western indie-pop and rock, her music is full of lyrical beauty that can be found only in the Slavic countries. Just like in “Под облачком” (Pid oblachkom, meaning Under the Cloud), an epic closing to the album.

Apart from Ukrainian folk songs, there are also two tracks on the album that Khrystyna Soloviy wrote by herself. One of those song called “Trymai” (“Hold Me”) is a great example of modern Ukrainian pop, and it’s accompanied by a charming video.
