Kinoko Teikoku (きのこ帝国)

The rock quartet’s 4th album contains not only shoegaze explosions but also classical R&B flavor and reggae rhythms, co-produced by zAk, who is famous as recording engineer of Fishmans – no. 7 in our best Japanese albums list.

Kinoko Teikoku (きのこ帝国) are appearing on beehype for the third time already. The title of their new full-length effort, “Aino Yukue” (愛のゆくえ), is a free translation of Marvin Gaye “What’s Going On”. As the name suggests, they sing about love and loss throughout the album in a simple but emotional way.

This music video, directed by Daisuke Shimada, consists of two scenes. The first is the band playing the song, and the second shows an actress Asami Usuda walking on a shore. And you might remember her previous appearance in Kinoko Teikoku’s video “Tokyo“.
