Lupa J

Lupa J is the nickname of Imogen Jones, an 18-year-old Sydneysider who writes, sings and produces her music, and even co-directs her vidos. In spite of her young age, Lupa J can be already called one of the most intriguing personas in the Australian alternative scene.

Although she’s a classically educated violinist, among inspirations she rather mentiones artists like Grimes, FKA Twigs, Lorde and Radiohead. And if your musical imagination lets you do addition like this, it’s quite probable the result would sound like Lupa J’s latest single, “Numb”, and the first taste of her new album, “My Right Name“.

“Look into yourself / What do you not know?”, she asks herself in the song, which she describes as “the older more mature me singing to a younger more naïve representation of me” and the video below is a perfect illustration to this dialogue.
