Σtella

Athens based singer-songwriter and painter Stella Chronopoulou returns with a delicate second solo release.

As far as I remember, I have never met or seen Σtella playing live on stage, despite the fact that she is very active here in Greece and she has just come back to Athens with her band from Austin, Texas and SXSW festival.

However, we first met her on beehype in 2015, in our annual best of, when she climbed to the final Top 10 list with her first solo album. Her follow up, “Works For You“, introduces her simplicity and essential songwriting in just 34 minutes and eleven songs. Indie, synth-pop and new-wave balance nicely, flowing in rhythm and nostalgic feelings.

What I like most about her new album, is that even though her influences stem from the late 70s or 80s, you don’t feel stuck on a vintage capsule. Her pop hooks are welcomed in good will and pleasure. Her intimate airy pop, filled with uplifting melodies and true romance, grabs your attention instantly and before you notice it, you have pressed the play button again, and again.

The first video of the album was shot, edited and directed by Dimitris Rokos and Isidora Charbila, and you can watch it right bellow.

Stream “Works for You” LP on Bandcamp.
