The Purplechickens

Filipino art-rock collective The Purplechickens has recently dropped their third album, “Halang” – a solid collection of anthemic rock tunes that recently topped Vandals On The Wall’s Top Albums of 2014 so far list.

“Dayami” is their comeback single and for someone who has followed their career it strikes me as a culmination of everything disarming about the band’s previous opuses: detail-rich production, introspective songwriting, and inventive chord changes.

While the arrangements show polarities of arena-rattling insanity and delicate beauty, the song arrives in the heels of a deceitful world about to fall apart, tackling a wide-scale anomaly as if the fate of humanity fully depends on it.
