Since “Gangnam Style”, hardly any Korean videos have been as much talked-about as the recent 8-bit dot animation from young Korean duo XXX.

The Seoul-based group consists of rapper Kim Ximya and producer FRNK. They made their debut earlier this year with a track called “Yves“, but it’s the spectacular animation for “Flight Attendant” that brought ears – and eyes – to them internationally.

The video is a work of French animator Mattis Dovier. It’s set in the (dotted) air, with plane being a symbol of escape from daily routine and society’s pressure. Quickly it becomes a nightmarish trap – to viewer’s delight. It might be hard to believe this meticulous video took Dovier only two months to produce.

The video has been nominated for 2016 Ibiza Music Video Festival for the Best Animation, but eventually lost to Radiohead’s “Burn the Witch“. While you can enjoy it below, XXX’s latest single “Super Market” is also out now on iTunes.
