Formed in 2005 by Lisa Jên and Martin Hoyland, 9Bach is a six-member group from Wales. Their sound is a mixture of musical traditions from their home region of Gerlan in the northern part of the country and contemporary influences.

Consequently, all the songs are sung in their native tongue. As Lisa explains: “for us, writing and singing in Welsh is the most normal thing to do, it’s instinctive. (…) The language comes hand in hand with the landscape, your culture and the stories you tell.”

Their second album, “Tincian”, features quite a few of such stories, some of them true and others imaginary, yet each accompanied by unconventional and captivating music.
