small o (스몰오) borrowed their name from the famous Korean novel “The Dwarf” by Cho Se-hui. Like the book, their debut album, “Temper of Water”, involves social criticism. But even more descriptions of natural landscapes which are reflected in their sound – inspired by bands like Sigur Rós or Fleet Foxes. Here’s their well-knit single “Bleak Season” (암울한 계절), taking us from fantasy to reality.

Because of her unique voice and songwriting, Fromm (프롬) is an uncommon singer in the Korean scene. She writes songs only about her life and herself, and if “Day Moon” (낮달) is a ballad written for someone she loves, it’s not too romantic – rather realistic. Fromm’s lyrics are like her diary, so on her new single there’s some room for thoughts about spring too.

Korean jazz-pop vocalist Min Chae (민채) has debuted quite late and “Rain” is the first single off her first LP released in April. A female crooner, Min Chae sings about love and – in the case of “Rain” – a break up with a boyfriend. Although the lyrics may be sorrowful, her calm voice makes the song only sentimental.

Ggotjam (꽃잠) means “to get a good sleep” and “honeymoon”, so you can imagine what kind of sensivity this young acoustic duo from Seoul tend to offer. EZ (vocals) and Geojung (instruments and programming) have just relased a new EP called “Smile, Bump” and this beautiful song is the lead single. Its title and chorus obviously refer to the feelings you’ve got when you’re in your twenties, and in love.
