Early in 2015 Zinger was one of the winners of De Nieuwe Lichting, which granted them a place between the most promising bands in Belgium, and a spot at the renowned Pukkelpop festival.
Their new single is not a brand new song, though, but a good example that less is often more. Compare the version of “Y 1 2” from the EP that Zinger released in 2011 with the one that you are listening to now, and you will probably agree.
It used to be a good song back then, in a folk pop style that reminded of Eels, and almost reached the 7 minutes limit. Even though there’s nothing wrong with that, the new version is more simplistic, shorter, and better. It is much more relaxed, much more basic, showing the true value of the song and its melody.
