In Bomba Estéreo’s music the traditional cumbia and champeta rhythms get filtered through psychedelic- and surf-rock, dancehall, reggaeton and dub, creating irresistible “electro tropical” groove. Formed in 2005 by Simón Mejía in the country’s capital Bogotá, Bomba Estéreo have evolved into a full-fledged band, gaining momentum with every new release. Their widely celebrated third album “Elegancia Tropical” dropped in 2012 and was promoted by the single “El Alma y el Cuerpo” – “The Soul and the Body”.
