The debut single from Toronto-based trio Closely shows Canadian electronic scene has a great new talent.
Released a few weeks ago, “Empty” has already made a few rounds around the globe and deservedly so. The song’s crystal sound, suspense and well-played contrast between hovering falsetto and house-grounded rhythm is something you probably wouldn’t expect from newcomers.
Lyrically, “Empty” is story about the band’s friend stuck in a relationship with the same “shitty dude” for the past few years. Let’s hope she’ll quit soon, and let’s hope Closely won’t.
