Originally a black metal band, the story of Heiden is a particularly interesting one. After their first albums following strict genre rules, they have started to evolve with every consecutive release, winning several Czech music awards for the recent two.
On these, the heavy traces have started to evaporate and this continues on the most recent “Na svůj příběh jsme sami”, meaning roughly “We alone live our life story”.
This time the pervasive melancholy has a retro feeling to it, while traces of prog and postrock typical for the previous albums have certainly not diminished. And black metal? Now only its shadows occasionally darken the doom-ridden atmosphere.
Very personal in its core, the music of Heiden continues to capture the listener also by its poetic lyrics put together by frontman guitarist Kverd.
