Efek Rumah Kaca

Rock’n’Roll from already legendary Indonesian group Efek Rumah Kaca.

Efek Rumah Kaca, which means Greenhouse Effect, have been with us for around decade and a half, with their self-titled debut album released back in 2007. The never overproduce, and their still most recent full-length album is still “Sinestesia”, which appeared in our Best of 2015.

But now it seems some serious work has begun. Last year, they released a new single “Tiba-Tiba Batu”, and a few weeks ago they made it the opener of their 4-track new EP titled “Kalan Enam Tiga“. Each of those songs is quite different, with a different energy and atmosphere, which might suggest it’s actually a result of one single songwriting/recording session – rather a summary of a longer process and a prediction of what might yet to come. But of course we can’t be sure.

What we are sure about is that after so many years, Efek Rumah Kaca are still an obligatory listen for anyone interested in rock music from the region. We’ve already included the song “Jalan Enam Tiga” in our recent Spotify playlist, and here’s a lyric video for another highlight off the EP, “Normal Yang Baru”, which means “The New Normal”.
