Calling their new single with the band’s name, the Iranian group Fazanavardan seems to declare what matters in music most for them. And we’re happy to agree.

There’s nothing better than global inspirations filtered through local sensitivity and musical heritage. And that’s exactly what Teheran-based Fazanavardan give us on their eponymous song.

They mix the sound of traditional local instrument kamancheh with minimal piano, electronic beats and deep bass, adding a story about “a close encounter with space travelers, who turn out to be inhabitants of the same planet earth.”

Currently, Fazanavardan are working on their debut album, which is apparently taking more time than expected. But if it’s as musically and culturally rich, and as accomplished as this early manifesto, we’ll be happy to wait as long as needed.
