Bangkok-based quintet FWENDS appeared in our Best of 2015 with their fantastic debut single, “Fade Away”. Now they’re back with the first official video, which magnifies psychedelic atmosphere of their music.
FWENDS haven’t even released a full-length album yet, but they’re already considered Bangkok’s most promising alternative group and probably have a bar named after one of their songs. Combining a foggy shoegaze aura with strong songwriting and a particular coolness, they’ve managed to bring something fresh out of well-known components.
A hard-working band, they also pay attention to the visual aspect of their work as shown in this mesmerizing new video, “Why Can’t You See”. Directed by Paphawee Jinnasith, it takes us into a closing stage of a night party where alcohol, smoke and desire blur the border between reality and dream.
At the moment, FWENDS are focused on completing their debut LP, which is supposed to be finished by autumn and will hopefully come out before the end of this year. They’ll be also visiting Taiwan this August and Japan next year, be sure to join their party if you can.
