With his socially-aware lyrics rapped both in his mother tongue Ewe and in global English as well as his insanely scattered influences, Delasi aspires and deserves to be called an ambassador of modern African music.
After you hear Delasi’s 25-track debut album, “#ThoughtJourney”, it would be difficult to find someone who is more universal and up-to-date while at the same time in touch with the continent’s roots.
Available in its entirety on Bandcamp, the album it is a work of almost a dozen producers and years of recording and re-recording.
“I want you to hear what’s inside my mind,” says Delasi, now based in Kenya’s capital Nairobi after many journeys he not always wanted to take, about the title of “#ThoughtJourney”.
Thanks for this album we can join him for a moment in his lasting travel whose goal he apparently hasn’t discovered yet. But that only widens his reach.
