Glauque

Five guys from Namur manage to put together a quirky mix of electronics, hip-hop and spoken word.

At the end of 2018 Glauque won the silver medal in Concours Circuit, a competition to track down the best upcoming artists in French-speaking Belgium. It turned out to be a flying start. By now, these youngsters have already performed at (showcase) festivals such as ESNS, We Are O’pen, Dour and Les Ardentes.

One way to stand out from the crowd in times of limitless possibilities is to combine a uncommon sound with a unique quality, and that’s certainly the case for Glauque. Both live and in the studio, the five guys from Namur manage to put together a quirky mix of electronics, hip-hop and spoken word.

The structure of their recent single “ID8” could even be compared to that of a post-rock song. It’s built up nicely to a ruthless explosion. Because the song “only” lasts four minutes, the tension curve is much bigger though.

Glauque plans to release an EP in March. We are definitely ready for it. If you want to see the group live, you can do so at Les Nuits Botanique, Belgium’s most prominent indoor festival, in May.

In addition, the Walloon band will be playing in Paris, Rennes, Antwerp and Geneva, among others, in the coming months. Undoubtedly, the rest of Europe will soon be in the picture as well.
