Λάμδα (Lamda), the word for the letter “Λ” of the Greek alphabet, is a four piece band from Piraeus, and more specifically from Keratsini, a suburb of the biggest Greek port.
They compose, produce and distribute their music themselves. “Εικασία”, or “Conjecture” in English, is the opening track of their second album “Η επόμενη μέρα” released some weeks ago.
The album includes ten intriguing compositions, which range across post-rock, folk and traditional Greek music. Although they are using some familiar musical elements and patterns, they succeed in avoiding all the clichés that you may find once in a while when groups combine traditional music with rock.
Discreet adjustment of electronic sounds gives even more depth and freshness to their emotional songs. Melancholic and angry at the same time, nostalgic but not retro, they balance between their political thoughts and more esoteric concerns around daily life and routine of the world that is more and more rotten and corrupted with every other day.
