Empress Of

A recent signee of XL Recordings, Empress Of is the monicker of Lorely Rodriguez, a Honduran-American artist who’s been getting more and more viral over the last three years.

In September, the New York-based singer-songwriter got a bit more official with the international release of her full-length debut album, “Me”, recorded and self-produced all by Lorely.

Bursting with ideas, quirks and unexpected turns, “Me” positions Empress Of in the very first row of the talented young producers/songwriters whether you look at America’s R&B innovators or elegant (North) European (alternative) pop.

Yet a few among her peers display such an ability to draw inspiration from distant sources simultanously. She’s always catchy but experimenting with each bar (if you listen closely). A New York dweller who’s constantly reminding you about her Latino roots. And even if an empress, then with off attitude.
