If Ida Long’s debut album “Walk Into The Fire” was promising, her sophomore record “Rainbows & Tears” released earlier this year gave us more than any of us probably expected.
While the arrangements of her songs received a clear boost, on the second effort the Gävle-based singer-songwriter grows especially as a vocalist, showing us the full range of her versatile voice.
At the same time, she’s clearly become more confident about what her own voice is, leaving behind all the connotations critics and listeners could have after her debut. Just compare her now-famous cover of “Mad World“, recorded a few years back, with the beautiful and powerful Swedish track “Mannen på taket”.
While you can stream the whole thing on Spotify, you can start with two very diverse singles off the album, the quite sober “Baby Gone” and extremely positive “We Go”, which is among the finest songs we’ve heard this year yet.
