After changing her nickname a couple of time, Ukrainian electro pop singer INAIA seems to have finally found what she’s been looking for. But she keeps changing faces.
Around three years ago, Katya Rogovaya (Катя Роговая) started releasing music as K.A.T.Y.A., and then for a while under her own name. Eventually, this spring she picked INAIA as her nickname sharing a series of great electro pop singles.
Apart from the modern, atmospheric, but not cold sound of her songs the thing that’s been common for the Kyiv-based artist from the very beginning of her career is an excellent visual side. That’s most true about her latest video, “Moya Milaya” (“Моя милая”), meaning “My Sweetheart”. We found it really hard to pick the screenshot for the article, as each scene of this clip – directed by Anya Velosipedova – could be on the cover of any music, art, or fashion magazine.
However, the song itself is (almost) as catchy as the video, and there’s a reason we picked it for the opener of our recent playlist. Rounding up Katya’s explorations with a soft touch of the producer Evgeny Filatov’s (from The Maneken), “Moya Milaya” seems like the best possible introduction to her music – and look.
