Laid back lifestyle mantra with weed, beach, and lady companion – over a sun-baked, crackling beat.
Jazz Bandana might not yet be one of Puerto Rico’s better-known rap exports, but the boricua has been dutifully doing his thing on the local underground and spreading it over the internet for the better part of this decade.
His most recent video and single, “Normal”, is a laid back lifestyle mantra that checks off the usual suspects – weed, beach, and lady companion – over a sun-baked, crackling beat. The result is both invigorating and inviting, with Jazz’s staccato flow and the track’s melodic counterpoints providing a welcome diversion from this summer’s more prominent trapero (trap star) jams.
The accompanying video was shot in one of the island’s better known vacation villa resorts, home to some of Puerto Rico’s one-percenters, a visual signifier if there ever was one that Jazz is living the dream while probably ruffling some feathers.
