Friendship and love, longing and loneliness, past and future, Icelandic singer-songwriter K.óla’s new album is as universal as it gets.
After one full-length album and a couple of EPs sung in Icelandic, one of the island’s most talented singer-songwriters finally realeased her first record in English – and this one time we don’t mind.
K.óla has two outstanding and obviously fundamental talents: writing great, memorable melodies and performing them the way that deserves the same epithets. We should also mention meticulous arrangements, including sax.
The tension between friendship and love, longing and loneliness, trying to forget about the past and dreaming dreams about the future are just some of the topics of K.óla’s beautiful (yet far from obvious) new songs. Hard to imagine a more universal album.
