Kroki

Over a hundred Polish bands, mostly newcomers, performed at the recent Spring Break showcase festival in Poznań. A young trio called Kroki was among those who left the very best impression.

The first time most of us heard about Kroki (their name means Steps) was earlier this year when they posted their debut track, “Who You Are”, a crafty combination of contemporary soul, electronic/ambient textures and nu-jazzy vibe.

Apart from this track and a memorable Sofar performance, they haven’t shared any more music since then, except what you can hear at their live shows.

While working on their live presence, the trio of producer Łukasza Palkiewicza (a.k.a. Szatt), singer Jakub Goleniewski and bassist Paweł Stachowiak are also completing their first EP. One of the most-awaited debuts this year, it should come out within months.

And talking about concerts, tomorrow Kroki will play in Budapest at the launch of Selected Sounds Label, then they’ll have a short tour around Poland, and in the summer you might see them at Open’er festival. And it all still seems like just their first steps.
