Leslie Low started off in the 90s with Humpback Oak, a band that lasted for a while before he moved on to form The Observatory, which he has been involved with since.
While his band deals with experimental rock music that veers towards sonic extremity, his solo work offers a contemplative side that deals with growing up in Singapore while tackling social issues that concern the country and its state of modern living.
In his own words, “It was distinctly very much like my older material but with some mild Balinese rhythmic influence and also an outpouring from my subconscious mind, the melodies and song structures from my teenage growing up years of listening to canto pop.”
