María José Montijo

María José Montijo’s “Estrellas” EP was one of 2014’s great revelations. The Puerto Rican harpist’s minimalist arrangements helped showcase a unique, booming voice and deceptively simple, disarming lyrics in songs about self-love, healing, and nature.

Fast-forward a couple of years and Montijo, who is currently based in California, seems to be readying listeners for a second batch of songs, with new single “Glaciar” making its debut on NPR Alt.Latino program earlier this month.

Featuring lush production and additional vocals by Puerto Rican singer-songwriter Héctor “StoneTape” Hernández, the song beautifully captures María José’s warm nature and genuine appeal.
