menwhopause

New Delhi alt-rockers menwhopause finally return with their long-overdue release, “Neon Delhi”.

Overall the record aims to, and succeeds in soundtracking the beautiful juxtaposition of the capital city of India, and takes many plunges in the experimental ways of menwhopause. In between their several other entrepreneurial ways, the band members find (time and) a sound that is truly their own, album after album, as is evidenced in “Neon Delhi”.

Besides the contribution of guitar-player, author, poet and vocalist Jeet Thayil, the band also take contributions from YouTube star Faadu, on “On A Boat”.

I first heard this rendition with Faadu spitting rhymes at the idyllic Ziro Festival of Music in the year 2015, and have awaited a release long since. The song retains a signature menwhopause hypnotic melody, and Faadu’s verses are a welcome wave of surprise.

While many songs on “Neon Delhi” are worthy repeated listens, “On A Boat” is a definitive.
