Mundos is a brainchild of musician/illustrator Roger Ycaza (Mamá Vudú) and Denise Santos. In this new project, they aim to explore sounds that neither of their former bands has ever tried.
It’s a departure from the electro-pop stylings of Can Can (Santos’ former band) and the post-punk soundscapes with which Mamá Vudú helped shape the aesthetics of the first wave of contemporary Ecuadorian rock.
On “Núcleos Áctivos Imaginarios” (their debut album, released last year) they mix indie-folk with rhythmic guitars and percussion that at times sound distinctively Andean.
