My Life as Ali Thomas

If there’s one Thai song this year every radio station in the world should be playing right now, it’s the latest single from Bangkok-based quartet My Life as Ali Thomas.

Founded by the singer-songwriter “Pie” Kanyapak Wuttara about three years ago, the band has already appeared on beehype in our Best of 2014 and Best of 2015. And you may expect them to have a beehype hat-trick this year.

A few weeks ago, My Life as Ali Thomas released their long-awaited debut album, “Paper“. It’s a collection of 10 delicate folk rock songs woven around acoustic compositions and Pie’s intimate, slightly misty vocals. Some of them we’ve already known and loved. Some are new. All in all, it is one of the most colourful and beautiful debut albums we’ve heard year.

Among the record’s highlights is My Life as Ali Thomas’s most recent single, “Cordelia”, which has received a video treatment from director Supawit Suwannet. How far will they go from here? Quoting the song’s words, “Will ya ever know.”
