Among several special things about the Lisbon-based quartet Paus perhaps the least important – but you’ll notice it first – is the fact that all four members of the group sing. Or maybe we should say: shout.
But that’s just the suface of their most recent single, “Mo People”, released this summer and still intriguing us enough to keep it on repeat. This intricate track is just three and a half minutes long, but it sums up what kind of music Paus are interested in. One that celebrates rhythm and mood changes. Is precise but wild. Intense and cathartic but not too serious.
Intense was this year for the band themselves, as they played in several European countries and most recently around Portugal. While the video “Mo People” comes from Paus’s 2015 album “Mitra”, which you can stream right here, we’re hoping to hear some new material soon.
