Released on India’s 72nd Independence Day, new video from PCRC is a gem.

When the band took this song off their Soundcloud-led “Transmissions” project, I was bummed out, but also happy because they had just signed to Panache in Paris to re-release their best material across their existence.

While “Kya Farak Padega” didn’t make the album cut, I secretly hoped for it to make a return, and it did on August 15, 2018 – India’s 72nd Independence Day.

The accompanying video is masked genius, featuring a widely popular but disliked character in Indian polity. The song could be an ideal fit for a busker jam by a bonfire, an early morning rumination or a drunken night’s lullaby with the same ease.

I’ll say it again, Suryakant Sawhney should be doing more playback singing for movies, because his silken voice takes on a newfound charm in Hindi.
