There’s a cover of Björk’s “Scary” on Ifrit Rivera’s Soundcloud profile so you don’t even need to hear his recent track “Earthquake” to know where the Filipino songwriters/producer’s inspirations come from.

The song obviously starts off in Iceland, but the artist’s origin and the sheer fact that he’s a baritone rather than a soprano brings a new quality to northern aesthetics. And that between Björk’s Reykjavík and Holly Herndon & Julia Holter’s Los Angeles there’s still some space for Quezón City.
