Ever-changing rhythms, guitars tacking between math-rock’s complexity and indie pop’s immediacy, and Dee Cruz’s calming vocals make up a very distinct sound of the Manila-based quintet Run Dorothy.

It is gratefully exemplified in their recent single, “Ghosts”, which you could call a miniature suite. But “Like a spark of light illuminating beating hearts,” Dee’s voice leads us through all the swings up to the instrumental outro – yes, they’ve managed to squeeze it too into just over 4 minutes.
