Over the last eight years, Nairobi-based trio Just A Band have been developing one of the most disctint music styles in the contemporary Kenyan scene, or maybe in the whole Africa.

Kenyan producer Waithaka recently produced the great Afrosoul track “Malkia”, performed by Gospel artist Kwame (you can check out his recent EP “Rugendo” on Bandcamp). The sweet tune is getting more and more attention in the blogsphere since it seems to suit many ears and souls.

Third Hand Music is a young pop band consisting of Collo, Ike and Ken and based in Nairobi, Kenya. 3HM, as they are popularly referred to as, bring soul and emotion to their song “Helena”.

In Luo, a dialect of the Kenyan language, “Aparo” means “to think”.

Kenyan poet/singer/songwriter Jarel calls the beautiful coastal town of Mombasa his hometown, but he’s currently based in the country’s capital, Nairobi.

Sarabi (meaning “mirage” in Kiswahili) is the great hope for Kenyan afro fusion music.
