Debademba, meaning “big family” in Bambara language, is a musical project of a Burkinabé guitarist, Abdoulaye Traoré, and a Bamako singer, Mohamed Diaby.

Born in 1966 in Garana, Bassekou Kouyaté started playing ngoni, a traditional lute found throughout West Africa, at the age of 12.
