You rarely hear about Polish musicians working in South Africa. Ola Kobak’s parents – her father is an acclaimed trombonist, by the way – left Poland for Africa in the 1970s.
A few decades later, Ola has become a part of the local scene.
This young singer-songwriter was already involved in several local bands and performed solo as Fulka. In December, Ola released her first album under her real name. She recorded “Metanoia” (available on Soundcloud and Bandcamp) in Pretoria, mostly by herself.
“Flow” is the first single off the record, a beautiful electronic ballad accompanied by a similarly paced black-and-white video, directed by Nick Costarus.
