Quruli (くるり) was formed in Kyōto, the ancient capital of Japan, in 1996. The name of the trio has many meanings, including “to turn” or “to transform”. Indeed, they continue to develop their sound combining pop with everything the music world has to offer.
They’ve also changed their lineup a couple of times, with the frontman Shigeru Kishida and the bass player Masashi Sato remaining the only original members – accompanied by the trumpet player FanFan.
To date, Quruli have released 10 original albums and 27 singles. This beautiful video for a gentle ballad “Remember Me” comes from the late 2013, and you’ll probably understand its message even if you can’t understand Japanese.
