Since the late 1960s to the mid-1970s, the mainstream music scene in South Korea went through a psychedelic era, and Joong Hyun Shin became the godfather of Korean Rock. Almost half a century later, there are still many who follow that music.
While Asian Chairshot are clearly rooted in that era, their music has its own emotion – a very Korean one, even though they don’t use any traditional instruments. Their debut album, “Horizon”, came out a year ago and it was produced by the Smashing Pumpkins’ guitarist Jeff Schroeder. Since then, they’ve been gaining attention internationally.
Before their recent concert at SXSW, they met Schroeder again for a short recording session. The result if their new 4-track EP “Rain Shower”, and here’s the new single off the mini-album:
