Indian indie legends Swarathma raise awareness about the pressure children face during school exams.
Swarathma have been an instrumental band in my gradual inclination towards Indian independent music, and perhaps one of the first bands I photographed about half a dozen years ago. New music from the band, while not reminiscent of Swarathma of the early years, is in a direction likely to be way more immersive in a live setting.
In the song “Beat Sweater Pehno”, created for a campaign to raise awareness about the pressure children face during examinations, Swarathma explore newer production styles as well. It is the first song produced, mixed and mastered by Varun Murali, the guitarist of the band.
With the video as well, directed by frontman and vocalist Vasu Dixit, the Bangalore folk-rockers display their DIY spirit and self-sufficiency.
More music is on the way, and the band promise it to be different in ways more than one, when compared to previous tunes.
