The acclaimed group from Reykjavík returns with a brand new single, “Slétt og fellt”.
Listening to “Slétt og fellt” over and over, it’s hard to shake the feeling that Valdimar are very confident in what they do. As if they found their own sound and mastered it to the point of effortlessness.
The song, accompanied by a black-and-white video directed by Óskar Kristinn Vignisson, is both complex and captivating, exhibiting raw emotional energy that only intensifies as the music progresses.
“Slétt og fellt” revolves around a minimalistic percussive groove accompanied by a slick bass line and aerial guitar licks. Then the brass and drones kick in to provide some unexpected twists, before the band moves to an anthemic chorus.
And all that happens just halfway through… Certainly, one of the highlights in the band’s already astonishing oeuvre.
