Yohei Yoshida Group (吉田ヨウヘイGroup) stands out in the murky Japanese music scene, but Japan can’t focus on extreme pessimism after the 3/11 disasters.

Their colourful music dangles in the air, much like neon lights reflected in the driver’s eyes in the video for “Boulevard” (ブールヴァード).

It’s the lead single off the Tokyo band’s new album, “Smart Citizen”, coming out this week and representing the booming “city-pop” style.
