Yüzyüzeyken Konuşuruz is one of those controversial bands that make people choose sides – you either love them or hate them. At least, that’s what most people believe.
Rising to fame at an early age compared to many other names in the Turkish indie scene, Yüzyüzeyken Konuşuruz have as many haters as their followers. And this duality has been a part of their existence since the very beginning of their career. At first some criticized their songs for being “too simple”, others praised them for the insightful lyrics and catchy tunes.
Their hiatus, which actually took only a week, was celebrated by some while creating great distress in others. And a disagreement with their production company, which has turned into a legal war lately, is making people choose sides once again.
However, they are not here on Beehype for the discussions they spark. They are here because you need to hear their latest song, “Ne Fark Eder?”, which is quite different from their earlier works with a great amount of synth. The name of the song is a common Turkish phrase meaning “It doesn’t matter” although it looks like a question.
Perhaps, this marks the beginning of a new sound they will adopt or it’s just one of many things they will experiment with. In either case, it’s fresh and it’s a great point to meet these talented young men. (Yes, I’m definitely on their side).
