MÍO

Folk music from the city.

On their self-titled debut EP, the Oslo-based group MÍO delivers Norwegian folk music with a modern twist. The compositions are a mix of folk, singer-songwriter and rock.

The vocals vary between raw and gentle. The violin adds the definitive folk aesthetic. Every track tells a story.

One of the highlights is «Lyset», being an existential love story fairytale.

The EP was recorded live in 24 hours at Velvet Recording in Spydeberg by vocalist Dionisia Fjelldalen, bassist Marianne Friisberg Larssen, violinist Nils Oma, drummer Eilif Finnseth and pianist and guitarist Noah Krogsholm.

Fjelldalen and Larssen wrote the text and melody and the cover artwork was done by Hannah Bjørneng.

MÍO’s keeping Norwegian folk music alive by adding their unique and genuine touch. Listen and get spellbound!
