You might already know Laura Guevara from her recent video “Más Feliz“, where she shows us impressive landscapes in the company of a very particular gentleman. Or for her famous 2014 single, “Late”.

My favourite artist in Venezuela, Heberto Añez Novoa a.k.a Presidente, just released his new album. The first single, “La Sociedad (de la tierra plana)”, gives us a glimpse of the 80s vibe that inhabits his third full length.

If the pixelized and positively perplexing new single from Algodón Egipcio is representative for his upcoming second LP, then we’re going to hear one of the most fascinating Venezuelan releases of the recent years.

Two years after the Caracas-based Los Colores debut album, “Clásico“, Alejandro Sojo & company return with a new song that will probably be featured in their upcoming second LP.

The latest video from Venezuelan singer/songwriter Ulises Hadjis shows his breezy, melodic indie-folk with a humorous touch.

“The Little Revenge” is the name of this folk duo that, in its first video, captures the essence of old Caracas.

“Late” is the first single off Laura Guevara’s first studio album, which will come out in mid 2015. The song is a Venezuelan take on Western culture, filled with folk, vals and cumbia sounds.

La Vida Boheme recently moved from Venezuela to Mexico City in hopes of finding new ears for their music. Their newest video is the perfect introduction for the band as it was financed by the Venezuelan Center for Cinematography (CNAC) and animated by the same group of people Jaime Hewlett employs for Gorillaz videos. The clip, directed by Carl Zitelmann, is an homage to Merrie Melodies, old Disney shorts and the golden age of animation.

Two of the most interesting bands from Caracas have recently disbanded (Americania and Los Colores, both featured on beehype). From their ashes comes the work of Alejandro Sojo and Armando Añez, who pull of this beautiful Devendra-like tune without any additional information. It’s still uncertain if the song is part of a new project or a one-time meeting, but let’s hope its emotional resonance doesn’t stay in just one song.

This impressive video for Los Amigos Invisibles’s new single has been shot by the Venezuelan director Carl Zitelmann, who’s been inspired by photo-novels and cinemagraphic style. The band themselves have been together for more than 20 years now. Over the course of their seven albums they’ve established a unique blend of funk, Latin melodies and dance music – though “Stay” might be one of the least groovy tracks off their recent record “Repeat After Me”.
